PRESS RELEASE

Mainz/Milan, September 1st, 2022

Bram Schot joins Next Mobility Labs and invests in circunomics

Former Audi CEO Bram Schot, now a member of Shell's board of directors, supports German company builder Next Mobility Labs and invests in Circunomics, Europe's leading trading platform for the reuse of used vehicle batteries.

Bram Schot will become a shareholder and advisory board member of Next Mobility Labs. In this role, Schot will advise Next Mobility Labs on business strategy.

Next Mobility Labs is an institutional co-founder of Circunomics for which Schot participates directly in this portfolio company as a seed investor. With his investment in Europe's leading IoT platform for the battery circular economy and his involvement with Next Mobility Labs, Schot underlines his positive expectations for startups that develop the mobility of the future with new technologies.

For nearly 30 years, Bram Schot has held senior positions in the automotive industry: including management at Mercedes-Benz, Audi CEO, and board member of Volkswagen AG.

Bram Schot has been a member of the Board of Directors and the Safety, Environment, and Sustainability Committee at Royal Dutch Shell since October 1, 2020. He is a senior advisor to the investment firms Carlyle Group and Global Cleantech Capital. Schot is also an associate professor of practical business strategy at the SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan where he teaches Leadership & Transformation.

"The gap between what can be imagined and what can be achieved has never been so small. The time for new ideas is now. Next Mobility Labs is driving the transformation of our mobility industry, with passion and technology know-how. That's what convinced me," says Bram Schot, explaining his motivation. He continues, "I think the circular idea of Circunomics is the right way - we need more concepts like this. I am happy to contribute to the success of Next Mobility Labs and Circunomics with my investment, experience, and network."

Armin Bieser, Managing Partner of Next Mobility Labs, comments, "The energy industry and the automotive industry play a central role in the future of mobility. Bram Schot, with his decades of management experience and network, is an excellent addition to the Next Mobility Labs team. We are happy to have him on board."

Unlike usual incubators, Next Mobility Labs not only provides advice and funding, but takes a much more active role: The company participates in the startups as an institutional co-founder, strategist, and product developer, and supports obtaining additional investors.

Next Mobility Labs networks with idea providers, founders, and investors and draws on the resources of the digital agency Mediaman for practical support. Armin Bieser co-founded Mediaman in 1996 which today holds 90 strategists, designers, computer scientists, and project managers. Mediaman serves well-known customers - including Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Suzuki - from its locations in Mainz, Boston, and Shanghai.
